OpenAIRE ELD-Enrich Local Data via the OpenAIRE Graph – ADVANCE

About the Pilot

4Science, an Itway company, provides outstanding solutions for research information & data management and for cultural heritage.

We, at 4Science, believe in being the most proactive supporter of the DSpace community for the dissemination of Open Science since 2003.

Repository managers and librarians struggle to guarantee that information in their repositories are complete, accuracy and correct. Having good and clean data is the precondition for any subsequent analysis and use of the information provided.

ELD OpenAIRE, the pilot by 4Science, achieves refinement and improvement of the results of the previous OpenAIRE ELD project, targeting a deeper integration between OpenAIRE services and DSpace, the world’s most widely used repository technology, in its latest and most stable version 7.5 through one final phase.

The pilot benefits the entire research community and supporting Open Access and Open Science policies that are spreading throughout Europe and beyond, two services will be extended to DSpace repositories. The Data Correction (based on the OpenAIRE Notification Broker), to enrich repository data by exploiting the vast amount of information made available by OpenAIRE, and the Publication Claim (based on the OpenAIRE Graph), automatically discovering new content produced by the institution’s researchers in the OpenAIRE Graph, thus reducing the manual input from researchers.

Results:

  • MAXIMUM INTEGRATION OF SOLUTIONS: the two target services, Publication claim and Data Correction, now boast a new version that is more integrated with the valuable services provided by OpenAIRE.
  • MAXIMUM AGNOSTIC ADAPTABILITY TO OTHER PLATFORMS: The Correction service has now been improved so that it can be extended to other data providers in the future
